I was surprised with Ghyll Scrambling for my hen do and I couldn’t have been happier! I laughed so much, and had an amazing time during the activity. Emma and Brian were incredible! Super friendly and made us feel so safe. Once we’d finished I got another surprise of homemade brownies, Prosecco and a chance to play with their cutie dog. Thank you, Emma and Brian, for an amazing morning canyoning! We went as a pair and were complete beginners, but they made us feel comfortable and confident from the start. They struck the perfect balance between keeping everything safe while still making the experience exciting and adventurous. Had a fantastic Ghyll Scrambling experience with Rocqua Adventures this past weekend. 4 in our group as part of a group of 8. A few ot us had done it before, and some newbies. Very well organised session, excellent equipement and in a beautiful location. Emma and Brian are brilliant guides, setting everyone ay ease and clearly explaining each and every obstacle as we went, along with some really interesting local information about the old mines and how the ghyll came to be. The scramble itself was brilliant fun, with lots of slides through the rocks and jumps in to deeper pools. It was an awesome afternoon, and I would recommend it to anyone. Absolutely brilliant morning ghyll scrambling with Emma. From arrival, we felt like we were in safe hands. We were a party of 7 - two adults and 5 kids between 10-15 and we loved it. Despite the initial shock of the coolness of the water, the wetsuits were great and the slides and jumps had enough variety to keep everyone confident but also challenged. Just back from a fantastic and memorable afternoon with Emma Ghyll Scrambling near Keswick. Emma was such a knowledgeable, friendly and fun guide. All 5 of us, myself, husband and 3 kids aged 14, 11 and 8 were grinning and laughing the whole adventure whether scrambling down waterfalls or totally submerged in beautiful mountain water! My wife, 20-year old daughter, 16-year old son and 51 year old me, all had a brilliant time Ghyll Scrambling.  Emma from Rocqua Adventures guided down the ravine skillfully,  showing us how to navigate the rocks and natural slides, and ensuring we were safe and most importantly, enjoying ourselves. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING WITH YOU:

• Your own transport to and from the activity site. Your instructor will meet you there
• Old trainers or boots with a hard sole and a high ankle support (Wetsuit shoes or boots are not appropriate)
• Swimwear to go underneath your wetsuit
• A old pair of shorts to go over your wetsuit
• Extra layers to keep you warm after your activity (i.e. Fleece woolly, hat, gloves, etc.)
• Towels
• Any medical items you may require (i.e. Inhaler, EpiPen, etc.). Please tell your instructor if you have any medical requirement before you start your activity

GHYLL SCRAMBLING & CANYONING COMBO IN KESWICK – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GHYLL SCRAMBLING & CANYONING COMBO AND BOOKING ONE ACTIVITY?

The combo lets you experience both adventures in one session. You’ll start with ghyll scrambling before continuing into the canyon, where the terrain becomes steeper and more committing and includes abseiling down waterfalls. It’s a great choice if you want a longer and more adventurous experience at Stoneycroft Ghyll.

DO I NEED PREVIOUS GHYLL SCRAMBLING OR CANYONING EXPERIENCE?

No previous experience is needed. Your instructor will provide all the instruction and guidance you need throughout the session. The adventure is suitable for beginners who are looking for a more challenging experience, as well as those who have tried similar activities before.

HOW CHALLENGING IS THE GHYLL SCRAMBLING & CANYONING COMBO?

The combo is more physically demanding and committing than our standard ghyll scrambling session. You’ll be moving over uneven terrain, descending waterfalls and taking on the canyon section using ropes and harnesses. A reasonable level of fitness and confidence around water is recommended, but your instructor will guide you throughout the adventure.
