I was surprised with Ghyll Scrambling for my hen do and I couldn’t have been happier! I laughed so much, and had an amazing time during the activity. Emma and Brian were incredible! Super friendly and made us feel so safe. Once we’d finished I got another surprise of homemade brownies, Prosecco and a chance to play with their cutie dog. Thank you, Emma and Brian, for an amazing morning canyoning! We went as a pair and were complete beginners, but they made us feel comfortable and confident from the start. They struck the perfect balance between keeping everything safe while still making the experience exciting and adventurous. Had a fantastic Ghyll Scrambling experience with Rocqua Adventures this past weekend. 4 in our group as part of a group of 8. A few ot us had done it before, and some newbies. Very well organised session, excellent equipement and in a beautiful location. Emma and Brian are brilliant guides, setting everyone ay ease and clearly explaining each and every obstacle as we went, along with some really interesting local information about the old mines and how the ghyll came to be. The scramble itself was brilliant fun, with lots of slides through the rocks and jumps in to deeper pools. It was an awesome afternoon, and I would recommend it to anyone. Absolutely brilliant morning ghyll scrambling with Emma. From arrival, we felt like we were in safe hands. We were a party of 7 - two adults and 5 kids between 10-15 and we loved it. Despite the initial shock of the coolness of the water, the wetsuits were great and the slides and jumps had enough variety to keep everyone confident but also challenged. Just back from a fantastic and memorable afternoon with Emma Ghyll Scrambling near Keswick. Emma was such a knowledgeable, friendly and fun guide. All 5 of us, myself, husband and 3 kids aged 14, 11 and 8 were grinning and laughing the whole adventure whether scrambling down waterfalls or totally submerged in beautiful mountain water! My wife, 20-year old daughter, 16-year old son and 51 year old me, all had a brilliant time Ghyll Scrambling.  Emma from Rocqua Adventures guided down the ravine skillfully,  showing us how to navigate the rocks and natural slides, and ensuring we were safe and most importantly, enjoying ourselves. ABSEILING ADVENTURE IN THE LAKE DISTRICT

Experience the thrill of abseiling in the Lake District in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley, just a short distance from Keswick. Surrounded by mountains and stunning valley views, our instructor-led abseiling adventure is suitable for beginners as well as those looking for their next outdoor challenge.

After meeting your instructor at the Bowder Stone National Trust car park, you’ll receive a full safety briefing and be fitted with a helmet and harness. From there, it’s a short walk to the abseil site, where your instructor will explain and demonstrate everything you need to know before you begin your descent.

No previous abseiling experience is needed. Your instructor will guide you throughout the session as you learn to control your descent down the rock face. Whether you’re looking to try abseiling for the first time, challenge yourself or enjoy an exciting outdoor activity near Keswick, this is a fantastic way to experience the Lake District.

ABSEILING IN THE LAKE DISTRICT – ACTIVITY DETAILS:

• Start times available: Morning: 9am / Afternoon: 1pm & 3.30pm(starting in March)
• Duration: Approximately 2-3 hours (Depending on group size and ability)
• Ratio: Minimum of 2 person. Maximum of 8 persons (For larger groups please contact us for details)
• Minimum age: 12 years old, Lower ages available for private bookings (Under 18s must be supervised and accompanied on the activity by a paying parent/guardian)
• Weight limit: 18 stone maximum

• Refreshments (no alcohol)
• Any medical items you may require (i.e. Inhaler, EpiPen, etc.). Please tell your instructor if you have any medical requirement before you start your activity

ABSEILING IN THE LAKE DISTRICT – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need any previous experience to go abseiling?

No previous experience is needed. Your instructor will give you a full safety briefing, explain how the equipment works and guide you throughout your descent. Our abseiling sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have abseiled before.

How high is the abseil?

Our abseil in Borrowdale is approximately 12 metres high. It’s high enough to give you a real sense of adventure while still being a great introduction to outdoor abseiling.

Is there a weight limit for abseiling?

Yes. The maximum weight for our abseiling sessions is 18 stone. If you’re unsure whether the activity is suitable for you, please contact us before booking.
